generic.de and LEWA win the Allianz Industry 4.0 Award 2023 for their IoT solution “Smart Monitoring”
The award-winning solution is an IoT system for industrial pumps consisting of hardware and software

Würzburg, 28.10.2025. generic.de software technologies AG was awarded the IUX Award 2025 at the “Future of Industrial Usability Conference & Expo” in Würzburg. The prize was awarded for the joint project with Philipp Hafner GmbH & Co. KG — the innovative PHIL measurement software, which is consistently designed for usability, modularity and technological sustainability.
PHIL was developed with the aim of creating modern, durable and, above all, user-centered software for production measurement technology. The solution features a clearly structured, role-based user interface for measurement technicians, system operators and quality assurance. Thanks to intuitive navigation, customizable UI components and the integration of current web technologies, PHIL takes measurement data management to a new level.
“With PHIL, we have not only created a technological platform, but a tool that significantly simplifies everyday work in industrial measurement technology — from parameterization to live data control. ”
Uwe Betzin, Head of UX at generic.de
The project was implemented using a dual-track agile approach — with parallel discovery and delivery. Technical expertise, UX know-how and technical excellence were closely interlinked. Intensive cooperation with Hafner stakeholders, including on-site studies and continuous validation of work results, played a central role in success.
The award underlines how important user experience is also in industrial applications — and how sophisticated UX design makes a real difference.
